On June 15, 2004, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, who were accompanying President Hu Jintao on a visit to Uzbekistan, held counterpart talks with Uzbekistani Foreign Minister Safaev and Vice Prime Minister & Director of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Administration Gagriyev on how to carry out the consensus that the heads of state of the two countries had reached during their talks.
Li Zhaoxing and Safaev discussed matters related to enhancing the communication and coordination mechanism between the two foreign ministries, indicating that the two sides will make joint efforts to further strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Bo Xilai and Gagriyev confirmed that the administrations responsible for economy and trade of the two countries would enhance exchanges with each other, take concrete measures to implement related agreements and papers and expand cooperation in the fields of oil and gas exploration, infrastructure construction and machine manufacturing.
