On April 29, 2004, Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui held regular consultations between the two foreign ministries with Deputy Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Mrs. Lidija Topic at the office building of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui pointed out that since the diplomatic ties established 9 years ago, the relations between China and BiH have enjoyed smooth development with increased bilateral political exchanges, enhanced cooperation in various fields and active regional exchanges. China respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH and its road to development chosen by its people of all nationalities, understands and supports its policy of involving itself into the European integration process, and appreciates its adherence to the one-China policy.
Topic indicated that with the political relations between the two countries remaining good, BiH would continue to adhere to its stance on the Taiwan issue prescribed in the communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and not develop any official relations with Taiwan. BiH attaches great importance to China's significant role in the international community, and stands ready to strengthen its cooperation with China in various fields such as economy and trade and to learn from China's experience for development. Topic also briefed the Chinese side on the latest developments of the situations in BiH.
