On September 30, Ambassador Wei Huaxiang attended the 2026 Sri Lanka AI Expo, accompanied by Counsellor Tang Yandi, who is in charge of economic and commercial affairs.

At the Huawei and ZTE booths, Ambassador Wei, together with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe and other guests, learned about the latest applications and solutions in digital education, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. They watched a remote class conducted through a smart classroom and interacted with students in real time, experienced the world’s first Doubao AI smartphone, and exchanged views on AI talent development, AI-enabled industries, digital transformation of government, and AI infrastructure.
