On August 25, Ambassador H.E. Wei Huaxiang paid a call on Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on China-Sri Lanka friendly relations and practical cooperation.

Hon. Herath congratulated Ambassador Wei on assuming his new post in Sri Lanka, highlighting the traditional friendship between the two countries. He expressed sincere appreciation to China for its long-standing assistance and support to Sri Lanka’s economic and social development, and looked forward to further deepening exchanges and cooperation with China across various fields in the future. He assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka and he himself would provide full support and facilitation for Ambassador Wei to perform his duties.

Ambassador Wei stated that it is a great honor to be appointed by President Xi Jinping as the Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka. He expressed his readiness to work closely with the Minister and colleagues in the Ministry to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the two presidents, elevate the China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership based on sincere mutual assistance and ever-lasting friendship to a new level in a pragmatic manner, and jointly build a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future.
