On August 13, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr. Wei Huaxiang, presented the copy of his credentials to Mr. Ambagolla, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. 

Ambassador Wei stated that it is a great honor and privilege to be appointed by President Xi Jinping as Ambassador to Sri Lanka. He said that my colleagues and I are ready to work with friends from all sectors in Sri Lanka to earnestly implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Together, we can elevate the strategic cooperative partnership featuring sincere mutual assistance and ever-lasting friendship to a new height, and jointly build a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future.

Mr. Ambagolla warmly welcomed Ambassador Wei on his new appointment, expressing that Sri Lanka highly values its relations with China, cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries, and stands ready to continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields. He assured Ambassador Wei that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka would actively provide support and facilitation for the fulfillment of his duties.
