On July 30, Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development of Sri Lanka, called on Ambassador Qi Zhenhong at the Embassy to bid him farewell.

Hon. Samarasinghe spoke highly of the contribution made by Ambassador Qi during his tenure in deepening Sri Lanka‑China friendly relations and promoting bilateral economic and trade exchanges. He expressed appreciation to the Chinese side for its long‑standing support and assistance to Sri Lanka's economic development and the improvement of people's livelihoods, and noted that Sri Lanka and China are sincere friends who stand ready to further strengthen cooperation across various fields for the benefits of the two peoples. The two sides also exchanged views on promoting bilateral investment cooperation and bilateral trade facilitation.
