On July 23, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong paid a farewell call on Hon. Jagath Wickramaratne, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Hon. Speaker expressed his appreciation to the Chinese government and people for their valuable support and assistance to Sri Lanka, and highly commended Ambassador Qi’s significant contributions to promoting the development of China-Sri Lanka relations. He noted that Ambassador Qi is well-known throughout Sri Lanka and has earned extensive respect from all sectors of society. Ambassador Qi expressed that he regards Sri Lanka as his second hometown, and that China stands ready to continue sharing opportunities and pursuing common development with Sri Lanka, contributing to the country’s economic and social progress.

The two sides also held an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations, strengthening cooperation in areas such as new energy and climate change, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
