On July 24, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong paid a farewell call on Hon. Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna(JVP). Silva highly commended Ambassador Qi’s contribution to promoting exchanges between the JVP and the Communist Party of China as well as China–Sri Lanka friendship and cooperation. He expressed the hope that the two Parties would further strengthen exchanges on governance experience and deepen cooperation and mutual learning, particularly in such areas as Party building and grassroots governance. The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on Sri Lanka’s domestic situation and exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries.

Hon. Bimal Rathnayaka, Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development; Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development; as well as Minister Counsellor Mr. Zhu Yanwei and Third Secretary Mr. Jin Enze of the Chinese Embassy were also present.
