
On the evening of July 1st, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka grandly held a reception celebrating the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). H.E. Ambassador Qi Zhenhong attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. Leaders of Sri Lanka's major political parties, such as Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the ruling Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP); Sajith Premadasa, Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB); Sagara Kariyawasam, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP); Vajira Abeywardena, Chairman of the United National Party (UNP); and G. Weerasinghe, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka attended and addressed the gathering. More than 400 guests attended the grand occasion, including former Sri Lankan Presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa and Gotabaya Rajapaksa, former Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, former Speakers of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, as well as multiple government ministers, members of parliament, leaders of various ruling and opposition political parties, diplomatic envoys to Sri Lanka, and representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese communities.

Ambassador Qi reviewed the glorious 105-year journey of the CPC in uniting and leading the Chinese people. He highlighted the historic achievements and transformations made in Chinese modernization during the new era under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. Ambassador Qi emphasized that the leadership of the CPC is the choice of history and, moreover, the choice of the people. A China continuously moving toward modernization will undoubtedly provide more opportunities for the world, inject greater momentum into international cooperation, and make greater contributions to the progress of humanity.
Leaders of Sri Lanka's political parties extended their warmest congratulations to the CPC, the Chinese government, and the Chinese people. General Secretary Silva spoke highly of the CPC's glorious 105-year history. He praised the remarkable achievements made under the CPC's leadership in poverty reduction, modernization, and human progress. He noted that under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, China has successfully blazed a development path suited to its own national conditions, offering a valuable reference for developing nations. Hon. Premadasa, Hon. Kariyawasam, Hon. Abeywardena, and Hon. Weerasinghe highly commended the deep traditional friendship between the two nations. They highly praised the great achievements that the Communist Party of China has made by uniting and leading the Chinese people under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. They expressed strong expectations to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
