“Culture and Care for Young Hearts, Together in Friendship” School Supplies Donation Event Held in Horana

On June 25, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong visited the Kaballagoda primary school in Horana and jointly attended the “Culture and Care for Young Hearts, Together in Friendship” school supplies donation event with Hon. Nihal Abeysinghe, General Secretary of the National People’s Power. An local Buddhist monk and officials from the Education Zonal Office along with over 200 teachers, students and parents participated in the event.

Ambassador Qi Zhenhong stated that China and Sri Lanka are good friends and good partners who have always stood by and supported each other. The friendship between the two countries spans more than 2,000 years. Today, we have brought school supplies and daily necessities for the children. We hope these items will help you focus on your studies, grow up healthy, and become supporters, promoters, contributors to, and beneficiaries of the traditional friendship between China and Sri Lanka, carrying it forward from generation to generation.

Hon. Abeysinghe said that he appreciated the Chinese Embassy for providing the children with much-needed school supplies, adding that this once again demonstrated that China is a true friend who has stood by Sri Lanka through good times and bad.

The students warmly welcomed the Embassy working group with songs and dances, and a student representative expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of China for the generous donation of much-needed school supplies.
