On April 22, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Harini Amarasuriya jointly signed the Handover Certificate for the 2026 China Aid School Uniform Material to Sri Lanka. Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Madura Seneviratne, Secretary Mr. K.M.G.S.N. Kaluwewa, and Counsellor Tang Yandi were also present at the event.

Harini Amarasuriya expressed her gratitude to China for its continuous and generous assistance, stating that China's assistance in the field of education has benefited millions of students and families in Sri Lanka, demonstrating the deep friendship between the two countries and having profound significance for Sri Lanka to promote educational equity.

Ambassador Qi stated that China has been implementing the China Aid School Uniform Material Project in Sri Lanka for four consecutive years, meeting the essential needs of 4.4 million students. In addition, China has provided learning supplies to many schools in Sri Lanka, offers short-term training and scholarships, and is supporting the digital transformation of education, injecting continuous impetus into Sri Lanka's long-term development. Ambassador Qi emphasized that walking with China is walking with opportunity. China is willing to join hands with Sri Lanka in education to build a shared future together.
