On March 13, Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka held a seminar themed “An Anchor of Stability in Turbulent Times—The Global Significance of China’s Development in the New Era”, during which Ambassador Qi Zhenhong briefed participants on China’s “two sessions”. Chief editors and heads of 16 Sri Lankan mainstream media organizations and think tanks, including Ada Derana, Daily News, Belt & Road Initiative Sri Lanka (BRISL), the Pathfinder Foundation, etc. attended the event.

Noting that China has always been a reliable engine for global economy and a stabilizer of word peace, Qi Zhenhong highlighted the strong resilience and bright prospects of China’s economy, which has kept forging ahead against headwinds and achieved high-quality and innovation-driven growth. The objectives and tasks of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan will also present a “list of opportunities” for the entire world. China will consolidate the foundation for win-win cooperation through steady and positive development, expand avenues for partnership with an open and inclusive approach, and will work with like-minded countries such as Sri Lanka to steadfastly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative and resolutely promote the building of a community of a shared future for humanity.

Qi Zhenhong also had friendly exchanges with participants on topics involving China’s economic development, China-Sri Lanka cooperation, and global governance.
