On July 11, Ambassador Qi Zhenhong led a team to two primary schools in Gampaha and Kandy to attend the “Culture and Care for Young Hearts, Together in Friendship” school supplies donation event, providing  stationery, schoolbags and food packages to students and the underprivileged families. Local government officials, principals, teachers and students from the above regions attended the event.

Ambassador Qi stated that both China and Sri Lanka have a long and splendid civilization, and the people of both countries attach great importance to cultural heritage and children's education. As an old Chinese saying goes, "Even in hardship, we must not neglect education; even in poverty, we must not let our children suffer." With this common belief, we are here today to bring school supplies and daily necessities to the children and their families. Although the items may not be expensive, they carry the deep friendship and heartfelt affection of the Chinese people for their Sri Lankan brothers and sisters. For a long time, China has always paid attention to the development of Sri Lankan people's livelihood, especially the growth of children, and has thus implemented a series of "small and beautiful" livelihood projects, which are deeply welcomed by the Sri Lankan people. This perfectly proves the touching poem, "A true friend is someone who holds an umbrella for you in the rain."

The two principals and representatives of teachers and students said that we solemnly accepted the donation from Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and Chinese Embassy with a grateful heart, and would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese people. We will always remember this precious friendship across mountains and seas. Today's donation activity is not only a delivery of materials, but also a vivid testimony of the spiritual connection between the people of China and Sri Lanka. These items full of love from China are like seeds of friendship sown in the hearts of children. The children who benefit today will surely become the bridge for carrying forward the friendship between Sri Lanka and China in the future. Let us work together to pass down the precious friendship from generation to generation.
