On June 14, 2004, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council met with Vice President Alphonse Kadege of Burundi at Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.
Wen Jiabao said that China-Burundi relations are very close. The two countries enjoy political mutual trust and effective cooperation in various fields. The two sides have been supporting each other in international affairs. China is satisfied with the good momentum of the development of bilateral relations.
Wen Jiabao added that the domestic situation in Burundi is getting more and more stable currently and economic reconstruction has been started, which has provided conditions for expansion of cooperation between China and Burundi. China would like to work together with Burundi to further strengthen political exchanges, consolidate the traditional friendship and deepen cooperation in various fields so as to promote the further development of the bilateral relations.
Kadege said that Burundi is grateful to the Chinese government and people for their support and assistance to help Burundi restore peace and reconstruct the economy. He expressed the hope to continuously strengthen and improve the long-term and stable friendly relations of cooperation between the two countries.
