On 24 December, Ambassador H.E. Qi Zhenhong accompanied Prime Minister Hon. Harini Amarasuriya to visit the Chinese Navy hospital ship Peace Ark on Mission Harmony-2024, and was warmly welcomed by Commander Major-General Ying Hongbo and Commander Major-General He Yongming. The Prime Minister listened with great interest to the introduction of medical service provided by the Peace Ark, visited various medical departments and  state-of-the-art medical facilities independently developed by China, observed traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment, helped remove the gauze for patients after cataract surgery, and talked with Sri Lankan people who came to seek medical treatment.

The Prime Minister said that Peace Ark’s humanitarian medical service around the world reflect China’s style as a responsible great power. With their exquisite medical skills, good service and sincere love, all the medical staff of the hospital ship have exemplified the noble spirit of “healer’s benevolence” and demonstrated professionalism. The Sri Lankan side is sincerely grateful to Peace Ark for its humanitarian medical service and is willing to work with the Chinese side to further deepening friendship and cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of the two peoples.
