Notice for Online Chinese Visa Applications with E-application Forms and Appointments

To provide visa applicants with standard and quality services, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka will initiate the online visa application and appointment system from 10th May 2021.The specific arrangements are as follows:

1.From 10th May 2021, visa applicants are required to log on http://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn and fill in the visa application form online. After completing the form online, you may enter the visa appointment interface by clicking the button of "schedule an appointment", or log on http://avas.cs.mfa.gov.cn afterwards , enter your contact information and Application ID to make an appointment for visa application.

Applicants are required to submit passports and other required documents to the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka with the printed complete application form and signed Confirmation of Online Visa Application as per scheduled appointment. For other required documents, please log on http://lk.chineseembassy.org/eng/lsyw/ for reference.

2. To ensure the smooth transition to the online application and appointment, from 10th May to 9th June 2021, the applicants can still submit the old version paper application forms (Form V.2013) without online appointment.However, the applicants completing the form online must make an appointment on line for visa application(please find the exceptions to the above arrangements on Part 4).All the applicants still have to contact this embassy in advance by email during the epidemic of COVID-19.

3. As of 10th June 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka will no longer accept old version paper application form(Form V.2013) and will strictly implement the online application and appointment.

4.Exceptions to the above arrangements:

I. The visa application for Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions of China will remain unchanged, and there is no need for online visa application and appointment.

During the COVID-19 period, for enquiry of visa policies of Hong Kong and Macao, please visit the official websites of Immigration Department of Hong Kong SAR (http://www.immd.gov.hk/ ) and Public Security Police Force of Macao SAR ( https://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/cht/main.html ) for details.

II. The diplomatic and official passport holders as well as those who apply for diplomatic or official visas do not need to make an appointment online.However, applicants are required to fill in and print the complete online application form pursuant to the above-mentioned requirements.Please contact this embassy in advance by email during the epidemic of COVID-19.

5.According to "Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China National Immigration Administration Announcement on the Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits" released on 26th March, 2020 , please be informed that Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka only issue visas to those who have necessary and urgent affairs to China during the epidemic of COVID-19. Please contact us by sending the supporting documents of visa application to consulate_lka@mfa.gov.cn in advance.After reviewing your application,we will inform you whether you can fill in the visa application form and make an appointment online or not.
